Hungarys turning away for the European Union and the EUs response

The government, which won a constitutional majority in 2010, turned away from the European Union by autocratically transforming the political system (by building the so-called System of National Cooperation), then by playing the role of the identity warrior" role, and by taking a dissenting stance against the EU's alliance policy, which was consensual on the Russian-Ukrainian war. For a long time, the EU was unable to respond effectively to Hungarys behaviour, which threatened the EU's fundamental values and the rule of law, with its existing crisis management systems. The aim of this essay is to provide a conceptual explanation for the EU's actions in response to Hungary's democratic decline and its failure to respect the rule of law. At the end of the essay, an attempt will be made to formulate scenarios for the future development of this conflict.
